foodistas
Sunday, August 6, 2006 at 10:12PM I was just in the middle of editing the last interview i did... I'm excited about it cos i wanted to tell the story about the pedal powered smoothie stall all week, and it happened... more or less by chance. It needs plenty of cutting around... it was a long, natural interview with a whole tribe of young cycle juicers. Dynamo driven... local fruit, excelent nutritious refreshment... scurvy would never strike at this festival! and a wicked festival enterprise that could work... and does in some places... at farmer's markets.
Wheting your appetite i'm afraid, that juicy number will be along soon.. as will meetings with:
plant-curd man
fizzy pop
a great Cornish box-schemer
Cider hotties
............ there's all sorts o stuff on the disc.
Now, you can hear one of my favourite's so far:
Lovely Fishy Bhagies
Oh dear that looks pretty like not much... but i promiss to send more soon.
Food and Farming at the BGG
Sunday, August 6, 2006 at 09:00PM Theres some pretty cool food stuff going on at this amazing site. 20000 people landing on these fields for a week. For the rest of the year the limestone plateau of the mendips grows grass, which feeds sheep and cattle. We must go and explore the gorge and Cheddar... where the cheese comes from. These hills and that plain down there are intricately linked in a mixed livestock farming... cheese and meat... cider not too far away!! Another day listeners.
For now, listen to some interviews with some farmers and producers from the area. (Right click save file/link as)
This is all new... has been enormous fun doing... please, faithful readers, use the comment link down below to give me feedback... i'd really like you to keep coming back so tell me what you would like to hear.....

Gathering Green Bean
Friday, August 4, 2006 at 10:16AM Up on the Mendips, top of the world above cheddar and not a farm away from where Mother Bean (peabean) worked her first farming summer is agathering of people - an alternative tented city. This is everything green, from the solar panels and wind turbines powering the sound systems, horse-drawn transport around site, herbal healing for those wasp stings and chemical lives..... woodcraft... costumes.... colour and joy. For a few days this is a confluence, a concentration of green life, its a nomad encampment and a futuristic, ideal driven community all at once.
Fallen in with Green Radio.... radio pirates, web and podcasters.... cables, minidiscs, microphones, solar panels... capturing the performance and personality and broadcasting live on 88.7.... and meant to be streaming out on the web sson.
Greenbean radio can go live now after sitting shy, idle and hidden in the menu bar for months.... here they're helping me find my voice. Liz is a reporter for Brighton pirate "Radio 4a", she's taken me under her wing... and i'm so chuffed to announce and present features we made yesterday. today we'll be off around again... plans to get more food stories and some wierd and wonderfful healing sessions too. Georgina (www.solidsilence.com ) who was on the "desk" all day yesterday put our peice gathered from the stages... updating on the printed program. Liz's interview with the arc inventor went out in the evening with John.... taxi driver, in 1985 got in on the radio while at glastonbury... radio avalon.... a pirate station covering glastonbury festival before going official. since then he's been bringing broadcast to alternative festivals.
Another presenter is Martin, the Martian. Coming from Bristol, he's wandering the site here, collecting interviews and recordings and putting them out on his evening show. One of these days some of them may be posted as podcasts at radiodialect.net
So, listen to some of the features and interviews in greenbean radio.... and come back soon for more and more!!
